With the Armory show, Whitney Biennial, Brucennial, the Art Show Gala thrown by the Art Dealers Association of America (not to mention the various VIP events, pre-shows, alternative shows, and the option of just staying home and staring at a blank wall until your eyes bleed), New York’s Art Week can be as overwhelming as Fashion Week. May we suggest an alternative?
Instead of looking forward at experimental works by Damien Hirst et. all, how about appreciating the art we already have available to the public? That’s right: kick up your heels on Thursday and get ready for the annual American Museum of Natural History Museum Gala. Expect more celebs than you’ll find downtown, and we can almost guarantee the food will be better. Plus, more dancing!
