First, the Swedes came, and we said nothing. In fact, we bought H&M’s cheaply priced, tartily colored nylon frocks and irregularly cut slacks, even though they never lasted three laundry cycles. (Though drop-crotch pants are surprisingly well-ventilated for summer …) Then, the Japanese came with their appealingly uniform Uniqlo togs—whose name belied the fact that not an element of the clothes in the store is “unique.” Lo, we said nothing. It’s time to strike back at today’s grand opening of Canadian megastore Joe Fresh’s flagship—a breath of low-budg comfort on Fifth Avenue. We’re tired of all these cheaply made, hyper-cozy garments from foreign lands—but, ohh, look at that henley …
