To Do Wednesday: Google-y Eyes

Jon Rafman

Time for more learning! Jon Rafman, the creator of 9 Eyes, has assembled an intriguing collection of Google Street View shots documenting human interactions of all sorts, unaffected by the knowledge that an omnipotent web-camera is recording their actions. He’s perhaps the most intriguing documentarian of the way we live online. (He’s also very much into the popular-among-America’s-worrisome-nephews social network Second Life), and he’s lecturing at NYU tonight. We’ll make our way down there—but if we get mugged on the way, we’re sure one of Google’s cameras will catch it all going down.

New York University, Michelson Theater, 721 Broadway, 6:15 p.m., with wine and cheese reception to follow. Open to the public.
