To Do Wednesday: Palin Comparison

It’s strange to think of Sarah Palin as an historical artifact—wasn’t it just a year ago she was leading America’s political journalists on a wild bus chase around America’s historical sites and teasing a presidential run? But we now know she must be a historical relic—a bouffanted Warren G. Harding?—thanks to the HBO film Game Change, wherein she’s played by Julianne Moore. The evenhanded 2008 period piece depicts the doomed vice presidential run Ms. Palin undertook, dually mentioning the degree to which the governor of Alaska was subject to external pressures. The Palin-portraying Ms. Moore—who, surprisingly, doesn’t have one of her cathartic weeps in this movie—will be at the premiere tonight. Go tell her how much you loved Boogie Nights—if she’s still in character as Ms. Palin, she’ll pretend she’s never heard of it!
