Despite the rumors that New York City shut down entirely on Saturday night so that everyone could go to our nation’s capital and watch Jimmy Kimmel tell his high school teacher to “eat it,” Manhattan star stragglers were seen out and about. The Avengers premiere closed out the Tribeca Film Festival. (Turns out no other director wanted to follow Joss Whedon in the lineup.)

And let’s not forget Comedy Central’s 2nd annual Comedy Awards–which are like the Emmys for laughter, if no one knew the Emmys existed and they had a super-redundant name–which took over the Hammerstein Ballroom on Saturday to celebrate the best comedic performances of network TV. Also: Bridesmaids and The Artist. So it was exactly like The Emmys.

Those funny people left in the city enjoyed  the goofy-yet-mell0w vibe of the weekend’s event… one in which they didn’t have to worry if Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan, or Wolf Blitzer would show up and ruin the evening with their shenanigans.

Let D.C. deal with those party monsters for one night out of the year. New York, somehow, managed to exist without them. Though the awards won’t air till May 6th, you can see the winners here.

  • Back Forward Don Rickles

    Don Rickles

    The face of comedy.

  • Back Forward A whole slew of Daily Show correspondents: Wyatt Cenac, John Oliver, Kristen Schaal, Al Madrigal, Larry Wilmore, Jessica Williams, Jason Jones and Samantha Bee.

The Comedy Awards 2012: Jim O'Heir

Wait, no one told us Jerry from Parks & Recreation was going to be here! We would have worn our nice slacks.

  • Back Forward Ty Burrell

    Ty Burrell

It's like Ty Burrell's evil twin from an alternate dimension (check the goatee) put on one of those fake spy kits from the Dollar Store to embarrass the Modern Family actor. Curse you, evil Ty!

  • Back Forward Adam Scott

    Adam Scott

Adam Scott also sent his doppleganger to the Comedy Awards to fight off evil Ty Burell with his anti-goatee facial hair. That's what you call what he's sporting, right? Or maybe "reverse-goatee"? Either way, it's not doing him any favors.

  • Back Forward Amy Poehler, Will Arnett

    Amy Poehler, Will Arnett

We know Amy Poehler and Will Arnett are married and have children together, but for some reason we just don't buy them as a couple. Has anyone actually witnessed them consecrating their union? Otherwise, we're calling beard.

  • Back Forward Will Arnett, Maya Rudolph

    Will Arnett, Maya Rudolph

    Yeah, Amy's a beardo.

  • Back Forward Kristen Schaal

    Kristen Schaal

Our favorite part of this season's 30 Rock is maybe a little too limber. What pose is she striking here, "Beginning of terrible acid trip"?

  • Back Forward Tracy Morgan

    Tracy Morgan

NBC's Thursday night programming: proud sponsor of the Comedy Central Comedy Awards.

  • Back Forward Susan Schneider, Robin Williams

    Susan Schneider, Robin Williams

Glad to see that Robin Williams is no longer rocking that ZZ Top look.

  • Back Forward Eliza Coupe

    Eliza Coupe

When we think "comedy" the first person to come to mind is usually the blonde from Happy Endings. Or it would be, if we ever watched Happy Endings, or knew anything about that show.

  • Back Forward Sarah McHale, Joel McHale

    Sarah McHale, Joel McHale

That sound? Oh that's the sound of a million hipster girls' hearts shattering to the floor. Oh well. Is Donald Glover still single?

  • Back Louis CK

    Louis CK

We're sure he's still really bummed from Greta van Susteren's boycott of his hosting duties at Radio & TV Correspondents Dinner.
