While Venice was busy being saved last night, another class of metropolitan elites gathered at Cipriani. They weren’t socialites, and not all of them were young and beautiful (well, Sadie Stein looked amazing), but for the guests at The 2012 Paris Review Spring Revel, it was as much as about being smart as it was about having the cash or the looks.

After all, what is The Paris Review if not the crème de la crème of intellectualistas? From Zadie Smith to Jeffrey Eugenides to Ben Stiller, this year the celebration ended with a goody-bag that included a chocolate bar and a Spring issue of the magazine.
