e’ll admit a bias and/or make a disclosure here—we’re big fans of Drew Friedman, one among The Observer’s regular cover artists since 1994. The luminaries he’s drawn for us in almost uncomfortably yet marvelously photorealistic style read like a history of the city’s preoccupations over the years. We hesitate to think how many times he’s had to sketch Rudy Giuliani or Tina Brown, or how he’s managed to forget having to sketch Anthony Weiner nude on a bearskin. Tonight comes the reward for Mr. Friedman’s scribblings, with the opening of a gallery show of his comic and illustration art in Dumbo.
Scott Eder Gallery, 18 Bridge Street #2I, Brooklyn, 6 p.m. Open to the public.
