the eight-day week

To Do Monday: Que Sera, Serra?

Richard Serra (Patrick McMullan)

Amy Sacco may never again be queen of nightlife, but she’s still going out! She and ultrastylist Mary Alice Stephenson are among the cochairs of an event for Free Arts NYC, put on by Whitewall magazine. (You know what? Don’t tell us what it is. We’re already feeling old enough.) It’s a silent auction and cocktail party to help share arts with New York kids—and the objects on the block are not the usual melange of cooking lessons from someone’s chef. Richard Serra and Ryan McGinness are among the artists putting their stuff up for sale—but how will we fit Mr. Serra’s gigantic sheets of steel into our living room, or Mr. McGinness’s name into our memory? (We were so sure we were bidding on a Ryan McGinley photo!)

Eyebeam, 540 West 21st Street, silent auction and cocktails at 7 p.m., live auction at 8:30 p.m. Tickets and information can be found at http://freeartsnyc.org.
