the eight-day week

To Do Saturday: Preemie Donnas

Makarova.

Young ballet dancers with bones more delicate than our own (we were doomed to a childhood of viola lessons, despite so wishing to dance the Swan Queen) are to engage in a weekend of competition at the Youth America Grand Prix. It’s a series of events designed to honor the best in youth ballet while simultaneously tearing up every runner-up dancer’s young heart like an ACL. The final round of the competition was Thursday night, with additional performances Friday. Tonight, the Grand Prix hosts a tribute to Natalia Makarova, an iconic ballerina aged 71, with Ms. Makarova herself sharing choice anecdotes from her long career. This is your future, kiddos!
