We just can’t hear another word about HBO’s hot new Sunday night comedy—wait, there’s another one? O.K.! Yes, our reward for a week of running around is a night in front of the television, and we’re opting out of the usual crisis-of-manliness drama.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays a U.S. vice president (did her 1990s debate over “sponge-worthiness” get past the vetting committee?). The whole thing’s a product of Armando Iannucci, the critically adored British comedy auteur who had James Gandolfini screaming at a group of terrified Scots in In the Loop—if anyone could make us care about a VP, he might. We’ll finally have a show to talk about both with our comedy-podcast-listening nephew and Willie Geist!
Veep airs at 10 p.m. on HBO.
