What a relief to go to an event hosted by a celebrity in the classic mold—even if the mold is getting a bit dusty! Geena Davis—Oscar winner, MENSA member, trained archer—is hosting an event to celebrate powerful women (and no, last night’s paean to the Real Housewives of Everywhere didn’t scratch the same itch). The EPIC Awards are to honor Susan L. Taylor, Editrix Emeritus of Essence, James S. Turley, CEO of Ernst & Young, and a local Girl Scout—while AnnaSophia Robb (the new Carrie Bradshaw on a CW series) and Bloomberg anchor Margaret Brennan look on covetously.
