We were thinking of calling this set “People looking uncomfortable next to Klaus Biesenbach,” but that wouldn’t really do justice to these photos from Bomb magazine’s 31st Anniversary Gala.

During a silent auction held at Centrale on Bowery, half the room clearly had its mind on the upcoming art fairs. But those who weren’t thinking about Frieze were busy avoiding James Franco, trying to get Michael Stipe to talk about a whisper, and figuring out if Patti Smith actually watched Smash. Looks like fun!

Mr. Biesenbach and Ms. Smith again, though this time it looks like they're trying to escape delusional artist/singer/famous person Franco. Maybe he wants to do a collaboration?

If this was a Lichtenstein, the caption would read, "Oh Klaus! I adore you, but you only have eyes for my husband's art!"

We'd love to see Ms. Sherman's take on the R.E.M. singer. (Mr. Starn would probably just make a giant fjord and call it 'The End of the World as We Know It.')

  • Back Forward Cindy Sherman, Marina Abramovic

We wonder if Ms. Abramovic feels responsible for James Franco's appearance? If so, she's not talking...
