the eight-day week

To Do: Puppet Regime

The whole Sesame Street gang will be at Cipriani tonight: Elmo, whose pronoun confusion makes us want to throttle, not tickle him; Big Bird, dressed in spring-ready yellow; Oscar, whose dry, curmudgeonly wit would make him a hit on the dinner-party circuit. The puppets are joining together to honor Bill Clinton at the Sesame Workshop’s anniversary gala. Mr. Clinton’s being credited for his efforts to help children’s education and health worldwide, and he’ll likely come in for some light joshing on the part of host Jon Stewart, the only wit in the room quicker than Oscar the Grouch (and while Mr. Stewart’s been accused of being a puppet from time to time, he’s a lot more lifelike than Mr. Grouch).

Cipriani 42nd Street, invitation only.
