To Do Tuesday: Advertisements for Themselves

Joan Rivers (Getty Images)

We’re not really sure what “ads” are anymore—you know, Downton Abbey and Girls don’t come with ads, and everything else on our DVR is so easily fast-forward-able! (We don’t even watch the ads on Mad Men!) But the CLIO Awards are still paying attention to advertising, and they’re here to present awards to the advertisers who made the public laugh, cry—and buy things. Honorary awards are going to Annie Leibovitz, who’s done plenty of ad campaigns along with her editorial magazine work, and Anthony Bourdain, because who knows why? Joan Rivers hosts the whole wingding—and she knows a thing or two about defining your brand!

American Museum of Natural History, 200 Central Park West, 6:30pm; tickets and information can be found at clioawards.com.
