To Do Wednesday: Back in Black

Will Smith (Getty Images)

After pretending to have seen The Avengers so that the other parents at the playground won’t think we’re shut-ins, we don’t have much appetite for the summer movie season. And yet it marches on with the premiere of Men in Black 3, a small independent film about a trio of funeral directors. Not really. It’s the on-screen comeback of Will Smith, whose every film is a hit and whose every premiere is a fabulous headache. The Times Square screening, with an after-party on the Intrepid, is to be topped off by Grucci fireworks over Manhattan (Hey, after the actor shut down entire downtown city blocks with his oversize trailer during filming, what’s a little late noise over Midtown?).

Screening, AMC Empire 25, 234 West 42nd Street, 7:30pm; fireworks and after-party, Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum, Pier 86 at 46th Street and 12th Avenue, 10pm; tickets and information at http://www.IntrepidMuseum.org.
