Now that we’ve torn through Fifty Shades of Grey, we need a new book—preferably one we don’t need to put on our e-reader so no one will see the cover. Thank goodness for America’s queen of utterly respectable fiction, Toni Morrison, who’s reading and signing books tonight at Symphony Space. Her upcoming book, Home, tells the story of a disaffected Korean War veteran returning to the small-town South; it’s closer to the present day than much of Ms. Morrison’s prior work. This is a book we can be proud to show off on the subway, though we may be flaunting the cover for a month or so before we bother to crack the spine.
Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway, 7pm; tickets and information can be found atsymphonyspace.org.
