It’s de rigeur by now for museums to try to reach out to young future patrons with boozy, dancey weekend parties: the Brooklyn Museum has First Saturdays, the Museum of Modern Art its Kraftwerk shows. (Wait, is that meant to be a party or an art installation? We can barely keep track.) The Museum of Natural History reaches out, tonight, to those in the generation between kids-on-field-trips and field trip chaperones with its One Step Beyond bash, featuring a number of DJ sets and a starry-night theme (it is in the Planetarium, after all). Soon enough we’ll see those stars from our Hamptons hovel—but stuck in the city on a Friday, it’s not a bad view!
Rose Center for Earth and Space, American Museum of Natural History, Central Park West at 79th Street, 9pm; tickets and information can be found at amnh.org/rose/specials/index.php.
