Our friends who summer in Connecticut have been begging us to drop in, but there are so few galas there! What a drag! We finally split the difference and decided to come up for a couple of days so that we could check out the Litchfield County Antiques and Mid-Century Show, a weekend-long celebration of aesthetics that will throw its gala preview tonight. The show this year is to specially honor Lillian Vernon, whose name by now is a prepster staple; interior designer Matthew Patrick Smyth; and longtime Voguette Polly Allen Mellen. When our toasting hands weary of lifting glasses of champagne in honor of this trio, we’ll check out the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau furnishings on display—we deserve to treat ourselves for schlepping all the way to New England!
Preview party tonight, The Kent School’s Springs Center (Kent, CT), 6:30pm; tickets and information can be found at (860) 567-0613.
