All those whose with do-gooder itches summer gala benefits can’t quite scratch may find a new issue to fight for at Lincoln Center tonight—and no, not the perpetually chic causes like ballet and opera. This week brings the Human Rights Watch Film Festival at the Film Society of Lincoln Center, a series that opened Friday with Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry, a documentary about the Chinese dissident and artist. Today’s screenings hail from Palestine, Switzerland and Iraq. We’re particularly excited about the punny Salaam Dunk, about an Iraqi women’s basketball team combating every obstacle imaginable during the ongoing war.

Human Rights Watch Film Festival runs from June 14-28 at Walter Reade Theater, 165 West 65th Street; tickets and information can be found at FilmLinc.com.
