Few spots in the city make it quite so easy to fantasize one is in more idyllic surroundings than the Boat Basin—a rare, weird patch of nature devoid of the urbane types overpopulating the jogging tracks at Central Park. Tonight, the city’s most pastoral spot gets dosed with some of the town’s most cutting-edge cuisine, as Saveur hosts a rogue’s gallery of chefs for their Summer BBQ. It’s not exactly burgers and dogs—chefs originate from spots as diverse as the ultra-establishment Monkey Bar to the new-establishment Roberta’s. (We’ve been struggling for months to get a table at either: who knew it was as easy as dropping by the waterfront?)
Boat Basin, West 79th Street and Hudson River, 6pm; tickets and information can be found at brownpapertickets.com/event/249051.
