Every week this season there’s been another multi-chef tasting—don’t the chefs at New York’s top restaurants ever tire of competing against one another for the attention of glutted convention attendees? Even if they have, they won’t be complaining at tonight’s All-Star Tasting; Michael White (of the Altamarea Group, with hot eateries like Marea) and Alain Allegretti (of La Promenade des Anglais), among others, will be cooking up dishes to benefit the Partnership at Drugfree.org, a site intended to help youths stay off drugs. For those who don’t find haute cuisine a draw, erstwhile professional athletes like tennis player Jim Courier and basketball Net (back when they were in New Jersey!) Darryl Dawkins will be wandering around as well.
Astor Center, 399 Lafayette Street; VIP reception at 5:30pm, event begins at 6:30pm; tickets and information can be found at tinyurl.com/allstar-tasting.
