the eight-day week

To Do Wednesday: It’s Pat!

We’d be drummed out of our little theatergoing clique (a clique that’s getting smaller—after all, we keep hearing the musical is dying!) if we missed a Patti Lupone performance. Though she’s not playing a role like Evita or Maria Callas in her new one-woman show, she’s still inhabiting an iconic character: herself. Ms. Lupone is helping open the new nightclub 54 Below with a cabaret act. Other performers in the club’s first months are to include Jackie Hoffman, Justin Vivian Bond and Brian d’Arcy James. Opening night, last night, is already sold out, but Patti’s here for two weeks, so don’t cry for us!

54 Below, 254 West 54th Street, tonight’s performance at 8pm; tickets and information can be found at 54below.com.
