It’s the dregs of summer in the city—we’re wishing we’d extended our long weekend into the full week. Why not? Well, we guess if we’re trapped in the city, we can go see a repertory screening of Gene Hackman’s action flick The French Connection at BAM (it’s our last chance to go see a movie that’ll get anywhere near Oscar until, like, Thanksgiving!). Or, for a more authentically Brooklyn experience, we’ll take our friend who missed their performance at the Art for Life gala and see Salt-N-Pepa perform in a free concert with Public Enemy. Attendees bring their own chairs—just like at Tanglewood!
The French Connection, Brooklyn Academy of Music, 30 Lafayette Avenue, showtimes and tickets can be found at bam.org; Salt-N-Pepa perform with Public Enemy, Wingate Field, Brooklyn Avenue and Winthrop Street, 7:30pm, free to the public.
