For those Game of Thrones devotees who are doubly waiting for a new season of the HBO series and a new novel from the slow-working author, we’d suggest broadening your horizons a bit. The Bard SummerScape festival, up the Hudson River, makes the medicine go down easy with a production of Molière’s Imaginary Invalid starring Game of Thrones Emmy-winner Peter Dinklage as part of an all-male cast. The play mocks ancien régime France’s preoccupation with pseudoscience and wealthy Frenchmen’s hypochondria. In short, no one should expect Mr. Dinklage’s role to bear much similarity to his HBO work: indeed, he plays a sassy maid named Toinette.
Fisher Center at Bard College (Annandale-on-Hudson), transportation available from Lincoln Center, performances run from July 13 to July 22; tickets and information can be found at fishercenter.bard.edu.
