We’ve been hesitant to return to Prospect Park ever since the great Googa Mooga incident, during which we wandered the sun-baked plains at a supposed “food festival,” unable to find a single lobster roll or mini-burger for sustenance. And the Brooklyn-y sunbathers shielding their faces with NYRB Classics aren’t helping matters either. But with the park emptied out (as The Times reports, they’ve all gone to the McCarren pool), we’re ready to come back, and just in time: aging dance act Hot Chip is playing a set at the Prospect Park Bandshell. The crowd will be full of our favorite “cool” Brooklyn mommies and daddies, and they’re there for a good cause. The concert’s a benefit to ensure all the rest of the Prospect Park Bandshell concerts are free! This time we won’t be disappointed, as we’re not expecting food to be on offer.Prospect Park Bandshell (Brooklyn), 7pm; tickets and information can be found attinyurl.com/prospectparkbk or purchased at the box office of the Mercury Lounge, 217 East Houston Street, or the Music Hall of Williamsburg, 66 North 6th Street (Brooklyn).
