Kurt Andersen is back—not that, you know, he’ll ever truly leave us so long as magazines still have freelance budgets—and he’s written a new novel that came out yesterday. True Believers, about the complicated legacy of the 1960s, is to be celebrated with a so-called “dinner salon” in “The Pen and the Plate” series—so Parisian! (Well, not quite, as dinner’s served promptly at 7:45 here in the States.) Mr. Andersen will be engaged in conversation with novelist Meg Wolitzer, as well as the 50 guests lucky enough to nab a seat at Alison Eighteen. The readings will take place between the courses, so don’t imbibe too much during cocktail hour or you’ll miss a well-turned phrase!
Alison Eighteen, 15 West 18th Street, cocktails at 7pm and dinner at 7:45pm; tickets and information on Pen and the Plate events can be found by emailingevents@alisoneighteen.com.
