To Do Tuesday: Special Occasion

Dabney Mercer

If you can tear yourself away from the televised Olympics all across the NBC networks—tough stuff, given that today brings both the men’s triathlon and the women’s duet synchronized swimming finals, and do not get us started on table tennis!—you can celebrate everyone’s right to join in the Games at a benefit for Special Olympics New York. The host committee is to include former San Francisco First Lady and Current TV personality Kimberly Guilfoyle, as well as Dabney Mercer, sister of Tinz. Come out for a good cause—and know that Bob Costas’s heart-rending story of a long-suffering Ukrainian pole vaulter will be on the DVR when you get home.

Hotel Chantelle, 92 Ludlow Street, 7:30pm; tickets and information can be found at tinyurl.com/olympicnyspecial.
