But in her new film, 2 Days in New York, she’s added a new gent to the mix: Chris Rock loses some of his biting comic edge to play Ms. Delpy’s boyfriend, a journalist. And Ms. Delpy’s not simply the object of desire here—she directed and wrote the whole thing, and she’ll be celebrating her accomplishment at a special screening tonight. It’s a sequel to her 2 Days in Paris, and in the intervening years, her character has dumped both a past boyfriend (played by Adam Goldberg) and the city of Paris. Julie! We all know lovers come and go, but you really want to leave Paris for New York? You know you can’t smoke in bars here, right?

Lower East Side, invitation only.
