Lena Dunham’s childhood BFF and Girls costar Jemima Kirke is a painter, but she does not want the world to know that—at least not just yet. SCENE can exclusively report that Kirke, who grew up around Dunham’s super-successful artist parents Carroll Dunham and Laurie Simmons, is a full-fledged painter who will have one of her paintings auctioned off at chi-chi Christie’s this March. Our tipster tells us that Kirke, whose piece is estimated to sell in the $8,000-$10,000 range, specifically told her publicist NOT to mention her role on the hit HBO show as she wants to be taken seriously as a painter. Sorry Jemima, we love you on Girls but we’ll wait to see if your art is as good as your recklessly hyper-sexual character Jessa on our favorite TV show. See you at Christie’s next month!
