Fashion Week is upon us, Scenesters! And though its official start is today, the unofficial launch party took place last night, at Pier 57, where crowds gathered to celebrate Prabal Gurung‘s collection for Target with a carnival-themed party. Carousels, stilt walkers, cotton candy, fortune tellers, concerts, endless games and food trucks—to say the party was over-the-top would be an understatement. But we ate it all up, as did all the other guests: Hannah Bronfman went around the carousel more than once (while her friends frantically tried to capture and instagram the moment), Lynn Yaeger did not keep herself from laughing at the men who tried (in vain) to show off their prowess at the hammer and bell, Marjorie Gubelmann was dragged to every ride by the child she brought with her, and we caught Elizabeth Olsen enviously eyeing the twirling carnival ride. Man of the hour, Prabal seemed cool as a cucumber as he mingled with guests and encouraged everyone to get on the rides. Why a carnival theme, you ask? “Fun! Fabulous!” offered Mr. Gurung. With all this clowning around, we almost forgot to check out the actual clothes being celebrated, though it wasn’t hard to spot the line of people patiently waiting for their turn to shop (and by “shop” we mean “grab whatever is left and run”). The collection hits Target stores this Sunday, February 10th.
