Okay, so they are not a real-life couple (we asked), but last night at Bagatelle NY , where The Peggy Siegal Company and The Wall Street Journal were hosting an after-party for Oliver Stone's Savages (sponsored by Vitamin Water: favorite beverage of Mexican drug lords), we saw Girls's Alex Karpovsky and Zosia Mamet posing for pictures and totally wanted to believe that this could be a thing. Right? How cute would that be?

"Should we just start telling people that we're a couple?" Mr. Karpovsky asked The Observer. In the season finale of seriously the only show people still want to talk about (until Breaking Bad comes back on), Ray de-virginized Ms. Mamet's "least virginy-virgin ever" Shoshanna.

We mentioned it'd definitely bring some good press. Especially since the Vulture piece that graphed the likeability of the guys on the show over the course of the first season, and found the caustic Ray at the top by the finale. (It was his "slim leg" comment and accompanying hand motion that did it.)

"Okay, you can start that rumor," he laughed. "You should be a PR agent, you are really good at it. You'd be phenomenal." We told him we already had a job.

"Oh yeah, you're 'a writer,'" he said, with full air quotes. Other helpful things we were told that night by the Tiny Furniture actor, whom we met up with at the Soho Grand earlier that night to attend the VS. Magazine party for The Heimlich Maneuver: We had dry skin on our nose, we mumbled too much, our lipstick was smeared, and we were wearing a bra that was probably too big. It was awesome: just like actually being on Girls and getting berated by his character!

Around that point Peggy Siegal jumped in to steer Mr. Karpovsky toward Oliver Stone (who we learned spent the party scowling not because he wasn't happy with the film's reception, but because his ex-wife had shown up).

Drifting over to a more demure Ms. Mamet, we complimented her on her range of character choices--we still can't reconcile Shoshanna with the fast-talking lesbian journalist she plays on Mad Men--and asked what her afterparty plans were.

"I don't know, maybe something on the Lower East Side," the 24-year-old told us.

Is that where she lived?

"No. I live in Williamsburg," Ms. Mamet said, which quickly shattered the illusion that we were living inside an episode of Girls, because a) Ms. Mamet's voice is way less high-pitched than she makes it for the perpetually perky NYU student, and b) Shosh would never live in Brooklyn.
